Military Career

A Career of Service, Leadership, and Transformation

Throughout a 25-year U.S. Army career, Master Sergeant Kevin Crowsyn completed two overseas deployments early in his service before devoting more than 17 years to U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). There, his contributions helped drive fundamental changes in how the Army recruits, trains, and communicates.

Recognizing his strategic impact, USAREC Commander Lieutenant General Johnny Davis described him as “undoubtedly one of the organization’s single most influential figures of the past decade.” His innovation and leadership throughout his Army career were further honored with the Legion of Merit award.

Career Chapters

US Army Reserve: 2001–2009

Kevin Doe Crowsyn distinguished himself across a 25-year military career that began in November 2001, in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He enlisted as a Human Resources Specialist in the US Army Reserve, and completed his initial entry training at Fort Jackson in 2002 before completing consecutive overseas deployments early in his career.

While serving with Task Force Medical Falcon in 2003, his exceptional operational maturity as a Specialist earned him a direct commendation from Army Chief of Staff General Eric K. Shinseki, and the distinct honor of representing his unit at the head table with former President William J. Clinton during a command visit.

Deploying again in 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he operated within the Ash Shuaiba Port Tactical Operations Center, tracking and maintaining accountability of over 107,000 vehicles entering the theater, while concurrently completing his Associate Degree. He culminated his Reserve tenure serving in an E-8 Detachment Sergeant position while a Staff Sergeant.

Pioneering Digital Recruiting: 2009–2015

Transitioning to the Active Guard Reserve in 2009 as a Talent Acquisitions NCO for the
Portland Recruiting Battalion, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management and exceeded accession metrics by pioneering emerging social media and digital
prospecting strategies. He earned multiple Recruiter of the Quarter awards and the
Gold Recruiter Badge, and was subsequently promoted to Sergeant First Class in May
2011.

Following his reassignment to the Seattle Recruiting Battalion in 2012, he expanded
virtual recruiting strategies and personally trained over 200 recruiters. The 6th
Recruiting Brigade Commander selected him to spearhead USAREC’s first large-scale
full-time digital recruiting program. He designed the framework that became the direct
precursor to modern virtual recruiting stations and social media managers.

Authoring and instructing a comprehensive certification course, he trained the inaugural cohort of over 40 company-level digital recruiters, synchronizing virtual operations across the brigade’s two-million-square-mile footprint. By establishing USAREC’s earliest standardized metrics and virtual engagement training, he laid the operational foundation for all future Army digital recruiting initiatives and doctrine, earning a Meritorious Service Medal as a junior Sergeant First Class.

Station Leadership: 2015–2018

In 2015, MSG Doe Crowsyn became a Station Commander within the Indianapolis
Recruiting Battalion, where he earned Station Commander of the Quarter and drove his
station to rank fourth out of 30, directly contributing to his company ranking #1 among 52 companies across the 3rd Recruiting Brigade. He established the battalion’s first virtual recruiting team and won the USAREC Professional Writing Program, earning an
Army Commendation Medal presented by the USAREC Command Sergeant Major.

Transitioning to health care recruiting, MSG Doe Crowsyn served as a Station
Commander within the 1st Medical Recruiting Battalion. He graduated as the
Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Health Care Recruiter Course and spearheaded
the creation of the battalion’s first virtual recruiting team.

Promotions and Pandemic: 2018–2022

In November 2018, he was promoted to Master Sergeant and graduated as the
Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Guidance Counselor and Operations Course. He
then became an Operations NCO for the Albany Recruiting Battalion, managing quality
control and processing standards while directly advising battalion leadership.

In April 2020, MSG Doe Crowsyn was laterally promoted to First Sergeant and assumed
responsibility for the Orlando Medical Recruiting Company within the 2nd Medical
Recruiting Battalion. Inheriting a formation that ranked #1 nationally in 2019, he managed a footprint covering Florida, southern Georgia, and Puerto Rico at the onset of
the COVID-19 pandemic.

Facing the disruption of traditional recruiting methodologies, he leveraged his digital background to pivot his company to a digital-first posture. His actions stabilized the unit, securing the #1 national ranking for a second consecutive year in 2020.

Brigade leadership subsequently selected him to serve as the primary subject matter expert for virtual recruiting strategy. In this capacity, he trained every company command team and led workshops for hundreds of recruiters across the Medical Recruiting Brigade on remote-engagement tactics. During this period, he codified his operational strategies by co-authoring USAREC’s inaugural doctrinal publication for the specialized accession mission: Medical Recruiting (TP 3-10.5).

As pandemic restrictions shifted in 2021, MSG Doe Crowsyn adapted his tactical approach to navigate the environment, driving his company to secure the #1 national ranking for a third consecutive year, a first-ever milestone in brigade history. He was selected as the 2021 First Sergeant of the Year for the 2nd Medical Recruiting Battalion, and his efforts supporting the medical readiness of the total force earned a direct commendation from the United States Army Surgeon General, Lieutenant General R. Scott Dingle.

Institutionalizing Digital Transformation: 2022–2027

MSG Doe Crowsyn was reassigned to the Tampa Recruiting Battalion in 2022 as an
Operations NCO and Guidance Counselor. Operating as an enterprise architect, he was
selected by the 2nd Recruiting Brigade commander to design and implement a first-of-its-kind unified virtual strategy that audited and aligned over 1,000 social media accounts across 48 companies in the Southeast and Puerto Rico.

By introducing standardized training and strict metric reporting, he modernized the brigade’s digital footprint. He codified this career-long expertise by co-authoring his second doctrinal publication, Conducting Virtual Recruiting Activities (TP 3-10.4), establishing the permanent baseline for Army digital prospecting. His operational record during this timeframe culminated in earning the Glenn E. Morrell Award for Recruiting Excellence.
